DIY Facial At Home With Coconut Oil Plus Bonus Valentine’s Make Up Look And DIY Gift For Him

In preparation for Valentine’s Day, I’m so excited to team up with an awesome blogger, By the name Pauline also known as Polly she is quite an amazing blogger from the UK with her blog What Polly Does . So Polly and I went down line to do a Valentine’s Day facial routine and a bonus DIY.  We are helping our readers  prepare for Valentine’s Day no matter what have planned that day.  And if you’re single, don’t go away.  This is also for you-Nobody knows how to treat you better than you do.

You must have heard that people make judgments upon meeting you within 20 seconds.  Some argue that it’s 30 seconds.  Whatever time it takes, like it or not people will judge you. Not to push you away, if you are preparing for hmm say a blind date on Valentine’s Day, this is going to happen.

Not to worry though, Polly and I will help you relieve your stress with our at home DIY facial routine.  Based on experience, this routine yields better results if done several days ahead.

The main ingredient you will need for this routine is coconut oil.  Make sure it’s organic extra virgin coconut oil so there aren’t any fillers and less chemicals.  Why did we use coconut oil?  There are countless benefits of using coconut oil as a beauty product.  First, it is the best natural moisturizer.  At room temperature, it is solid, but as soon as it touches your skin, it melts and seeps through your pores, moisturizing your skin and replenishing your skin’s natural oils.  According to a magazine, Marie Claire Magazine, wrinkles first show up under the delicate skin of your eyes.  Coconut oil’s super moisturizing properties prevent these wrinkle from forming, so coconut oil can be used as an eye cream.

Coconut oil is one of that products that does it all. From moisturizer, cleanser, make up remover, anti-aging wonder, to everything and anything you can think of, coconut oil can handle it.  I replaced my other beauty products that have filler and harsh chemicals with coconut oil.  Plus, it is cheaper that store bought products.

So gather up supplies from your cupboard and let’s start pampering!  We know that your are thrilled to get started.

Facial Routine:

You will need:

A pea size scoop of organic extra virgin coconut oil

1 wash cloth

warm water

step one: Scoop a pea size of coconut oil and rub it in your fingers.

step two: Gently massage the coconut oil in circular motion.  This will help the coconut oil to really seep into your skin.  Apply around your eyes and lashes to remove make up (even water proof mascara!)  Leave on for couple of minutes to dissolve mascara and eye liner.  Coconut oil is natural, so if it gets in your eye don’t worry.

step three: Massage it in some more in a circular motion.  This will help the coconut oil to really seep in your skin.

step four: Rinse off the coconut oil off your skin using warm water and a wash cloth.  Your skin should feel super soft and moisturized.

Your skin is the largest organ of your body and it’s the most exposed to harsh pollutants, chemicals, toxins, weather, etc.  Coconut oil is gentle enough, but powerful enough to cleanse your skin.

You will need:

1 tsp coconut oil (organic, raw coconut oil)

1 wash cloth

step one: Put coconut oil into your hands

step two: Gently rub it in your face in a circular motion for a minute or two.

step three: Rinse with a wash cloth and warm water.

step four: Put wash cloth under warm running water and wring it.  Put it on your face for about 30 seconds to help open the pores.

step five: Gently wipe off excess oil by repeating steps three and four.

Steaming your skin promotes relaxation, removes toxins, opens your pores, and enhances circulation.  You should definitely include this in your routine and it is easy to do at home with just a pot of water.  We are going to teach you a couple of easy ways to do this.

You will need:

1 pot

Method One: Steamed towels

step one: Put towels in hot water

step two: Wring them out, allow to cool down in a comfortable temperature

step three: Place towel on your face.

Method Two: Bowl of steaming water

step one: Boil a pot of water

step two: Pour the water in a glass or ceramic bowl.  We suggest you stay away from plastic containers to avoid plastic particles from getting into your skin.

step three: Drape a towel over your head, making sure it drops down on both sides of your face, to trap the steam.

step four: Carefully, place your face close enough to the steam so you can feel it on your face.  Do not burn yourself!

With both methods, it is best to steam for no more than ten minutes.  Five minutes should be enough, besides you need to get going for your date!  You can do this once a week, but if you have serious skin condition or severe acne, it is best to consult your physician.

Your almost done with prepping your face for make up.  This step is masking your face.  Now, why would you want this step?  There are benefits of using a face mask.  Amy and I will give you five reasons why you shouldn’t skip this step.

1.) Face masks refines skin pores.  It deep cleans the pores to get rid of dead skin cells and other waste, helping you achieve clearer skin.

2.) It also increases hydration.  The water seeps through the skin, giving it a healthy hydrated look, plumping the skin for easy make up application.

3.) Face masks diminish fine lines–enough said

4.) Firmer skin- who wouldn’t want that!  5.) Face masks give your skin a more even appearance, by balancing tone and texture.

Here is a simple face mask recipe that you would want to include in your face routine.

You will need:

1 tbsp organic extra virgin coconut oil

2 tsp raw honey

1 tsp lemon juice

step one: Mix all ingredients together until you have a sticky mixture. Don’t worry if it’s too sticky.  Your skin will heat up all the ingredients loosening up the mixture.

step two: Apply on face and leave for 15-20 minutes.

step three: Rinse with warm water.

Easy enough right?! Now let’s continue to a beautiful and easy make up routine.
